Vancouver Port Problems

Not only are the ports in Vancouver suffering from congestion caused by diversions from the US West Coast ports, but there is a possible labor action by the truckers pending….

The much-heralded settlement of a trucker strike at Vancouver last March was seen as late as November as a pioneering and successful effort, not just in Canada or North America, but globally, to finally put to rest the economic issues that led to disruptive driver unrest at Canada’s largest port. Now the agreement is being put to the test as drivers are threatening to strike anew over disputed provisions of the agreement, and once again the port and government entities are scrambling to find a settlement and avert further disruption.
